WORLEY — The Cd’A Casino Resort is holding a fundraiser to help humane societies across the Inland Northwest.

The casino has pledged to give agencies in Kootenai, Benewah and Spokane each $1,000 to help care for animals, and to match individual donations dollar-for-dollar this Thursday.

“These local humane societies fight animal cruelty, provide shelter and promote adoption of homeless and often abused pets,” said casino CEO Dave Matheson. “They’ve proven to be organizations that go above and beyond in the task of protecting animals of all kinds and all sizes. We know this money will be a great help. We also know our guests have responded warmly and generously to fundraisers like this, so we look forward to a positive impact.”

Donations will be accepted at the casino’s Rewards Booth, located on the main casino floor. The deadline is Thursday.

The funds will be presented to representatives of each humane society at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31. The ceremony will be held just outside the Red Tail Bar & Grill at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort.

Adoptable pets from the Kootenai Humane Society will be in attendance.

Matheson said animals need extra care during the winter months and that they’re often overlooked.

“We’re like everyone else — we have a love for animals of all kinds and a great appreciation for the people who make animal welfare a permanent calling,” Matheson said. “We know this money will be a great help."
