POST FALLS — The Post Falls Trojans won five of the first 11 matches by pinfall en route to a 57-15 victory over Columbia of Nampa in the championship dual of the 19th annual River City Duals on Saturday at Post Falls High.

Post Falls, in the finals for the fifth straight year, won for the second straight year, and the third time in five years.

Ridge Lovett (98 pounds), Jordan Grimm (106), Mathias De La Rosa (113), Jason Burchell (132), Alius De La Rosa (145) won by pin for Post Falls, which travels to Lewiston on Thursday.

In the fifth place match in the gold bracket, Sandpoint and Lakeland opted not to wrestle each other, and finished tied for fifth place. Sandpoint beat Eureka 42-34 and Lakeland beat Freeman 57-27 in their final “placing” matches.

Chandler Axtell (98 pounds), Sam Edelblute (98), William Edelblute (106), Larry Johnson (126), Tyler Siegford (132), Jared Walker (170) and Antonio Brown (220) finished the weekend unbeaten for Lakeland, which finished the tournament 4-1.

“Those guys just wrestled tough,” said Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute of his unbeaten wrestlers. “Jared’s down to 170 now, and just wrestled really well all weekend. We’ve got all the right guys at the right weights. I’m happy with the kids’ performance, especially against the competition in the gold bracket. It was a really good group and to have seven unbeatens was great, and we had some that were really close to winning all their matches as well.”

Lakeland hosts the Van Tuinstra Memorial Classic on Friday and Saturday at Lakeland High in Rathdrum.

Maciosek fourth,

Lockwood defaults to sixth

MISSOULA — Kaleb Maciosek finished fourth at 113 pounds for Coeur d’Alene in the Jug Beck Rocky Mountain Classic at Sentinel High.

Coeur d’Alene senior Dylan Lockwood, who was injured late Friday, injury defaulted to sixth at 138.

“We’re not sure what happened with Dylan, but just think it’s a strain,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “Kaleb wrestled really well, but just ran into a tough kid in the semis. We had some guys in the placing rounds that were ahead and lost, and hopefully they’ll use that as a learning experience.”

Coeur d’Alene hosts Lake City in the TerHark Cup match on Friday.

Andrew Olvera finished sixth at 170 for Lake City.

Havre won the team championship for a second straight year.
