Ruth Ann Zachary, 76

Ruth Ann Zachary died Jan. 10, 2016, after a short illness in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Ruth was born on Jan. 8, 1940, in Gresham, Ore. She lived in Idaho the last 42 years — Hayden, Riggins, Cottonwood and Coeur d’Alene. Before that her parents moved often, mostly in California and Oregon.

Ruth enjoyed working in her flower garden and she had very beautiful roses. She also was a fantastic seamstress and made many clothes for the grandkids, herself and others. Ruth also made many quilts.

She met and married Claude (Bud) Ivan Zachary in 1970 and had three children.

Ruth is predeceased by her husband, Bud in 1984; her son, David in 1991; her father, Tom Lane, born in Cove, Ore., in 1902; and her mother, Iola Frances Hudson, born in Papilin, Neb., in 1908.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Mary (Bob) Newton of Union, Ore.; daughter Susan (David) Garnett of Coeur d’Alene; son Kenneth (Cheryl) Zachary of Hayden Lake, Idaho; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

After Bud’s passing, Ruth went back to school and then worked in Human Resources for the Forest Service for more than 20 years. After retiring, she had time to get back to sewing clothes for the grandkids and many quilts.
