Many North Idaho residents were out Tuesday buying Powerball tickets and making plans in hopes of winning the largest jackpot in lottery history.

Some ticket purchasers were approached by Press staff at Super 1 Foods in Coeur d'Alene and asked what they would do with the money "when" they win. Answers varied from donating large sums to building a cat shelter in Kauai.

QUESTION: What will you do when you win the $1.5 billion jackpot?

Donna Harmon, Hayden Lake

"I would build a cat shelter in Hawaii on the island of Kauai because we go there yearly and there's lots of feral cats on Kauai. That's what I mainly would do. And help all my family — share the wealth."

Cory Sturgis, Coeur d'Alene

"I would buy most of my relatives a new car or house. I'd probably donate quite a bit too. I'd probably build a large facility for low-income people."

Kevin Karlgaard, Coeur d'Alene

"I would donate half of it to some of the people that actually need money, like the people that don't have clothes and don't have the money to do the stuff that they want to do."
