Gage William Shimmel, 24

| January 5, 2016 8:00 PM

On Dec. 25, 2015, our beloved Gage William Shimmel went to be with his Lord.

Gage was born on March 6, 1991, at Fort Lewis, Wash. He was raised in Pateros, Wash., until the age of 12 when he and his mother Holly moved to Post Falls, Idaho. Gage graduated from Post Falls High School in 2009. It was there that he met his wife to be Karen Lohman. They were married on July 9, 2010.

In August of 2009, Gage enlisted in the U.S. Army and was in the 82nd Airborne Division and served in Afghanistan. After six years of service, he was honorably discharged in August 2015.

Gage and Karen loved outdoor adventuring such as mudding in their Jeep, camping and shooting. Throughout his life he enjoyed many outdoor activities with his mom, Karen and friends. He also liked weight lifting and spending time with his dog, Fin. Sadly, on the night of Gage’s passing, Fin also lost his life. They will be interred together.

Gage is survived by his wife, Karen Lohman of Post Falls, Idaho; mother Holly Shimmel of Post Falls; grandparents Keith and Theda Holbrook of East Wenatchee, Wash.; Aunt and Uncle Shelly and Jason Barnett and Cousin Jocee Barnett of Wenatchee, Wash.; great-grandmother Bette Williams of Pateros, Wash.; and numerous great-aunts and uncles and cousins. He was loved by all. With Gage’s passing we remind others that his life is to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his silly grin, he will forever remain in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 508 N. Western Ave, Wenatchee, WA 98801. All who knew and loved Gage are welcome to come and celebrate with us.
