All spring sports practices are officially underway as of today, but a few winter sports teams still have some business to attend to this week.

Following the carnage of Play-in Saturday, where Post Falls, Sandpoint and Timberlake all lost in state play-in games, four other District 1 teams are gearing up for state basketball tournaments this week.

In 4A, the Lakeland Hawks (10-12) make their second straight trip to state, and will open vs. Burley (16-8) on Thursday at 2 p.m. PST at Borah High in Boise.

In 3A, the Kellogg Wildcats (18-4), winners of three straight district titles and four of the last five, open vs. Parma (13-11) on Thursday at 2 p.m. PST at Meridian High.

In 2A, the St. Maries Lumberjacks (20-3), coming off a third-place finish last year, take on Soda Springs (16-8) on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. PST at Capital High in Boise.

And in 1A Division II, the Genesis Prep Jaguars (18-4) of Post Falls, in their first season as an Idaho High School Activities Association-sanctioned program, opens vs. Rockland (15-7) on Thursday at 12:15 p.m. PST at Caldwell High.

The first official day of practice for baseball, softball, track and field and tennis was last Friday. Today is the first official day of practice for golf.
