NATO: Pull out, United States
Many Idahoans understand that World War I started with a small issue that should have remained local to the Balkans, but cascaded horrifically due to a complex web of “entangling alliances.”
We Idahoans find ourselves in a similar situation today, and many of our leaders are either misrepresenting our foreign policy interests, or worse — telling us we shouldn’t be asking questions or getting involved in the discussion at all.
I submit to you that if there is one issue that should be debated in the public sphere, at any possible forum, by anyone, that issue should be whether or not we go to war. Especially if our treaties demand we send our servicemen to war on the side of ISIS.
I thank the Cd’A Press for covering our local Republican Party’s recent resolution on withdrawing from NATO due to Turkey’s support for ISIS, and I thank my fellow central committeemen for taking such a brave stand. Finally, I thank my fellow Idahoans for caring so much about global affairs. I am pleased to report that I have heard a lot of positive feedback. As long as we keep talking, we are moving forward.
