Cd'A Summer Theatre tickets available March 1
Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre’s 2016 season will open June 16 at the Kroc Center with “Peter and the Starcatcher.” The show offers a humorous and fantastical story of the beloved character Peter Pan and his arch-nemesis Captain Hook. This five-time Tony Award-winning is a swashbuckling grownup prequel to Peter Pan.
Laura Little, executive director of Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, has co-produced this award winning show’s successful run on Broadway.
“Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre is thrilled to be creating our production of Peter and the Starcatcher,” said Jadd Davis, CST’s artistic director. “It is one of my favorite things as a theatre artist to collaborate, learn, build and create something better for everyone. We are also excited because we are running the show in tandem with Icicle Creek Center for the Arts in beautiful Leavenworth, Wash. The show will run there for three performances, and then we will move it back to Coeur d’Alene for its typical three-week run at the Kroc Center this summer.”
Other fully-staged favorites will include “The Music Man” and “The Little Mermaid” as part of the season ticket package. In addition, at $25 per ticket, staged readings will be offered which will include “The Great Gatsby” and “Lombardi.”
“Staged readings give the audience the dramatic elements, but without full sets or costumes,” said Little. “It is another avenue to bring the experience of live theatre to Coeur d’Alene.”
In the spring, Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre and the Modern Theatre will co-produce the fully staged production of “Next to Normal.” This work of art is an unflinching look at a suburban family struggling with the effects of mental illness. Their lives are anything but normal.
This emotional powerhouse takes audiences into the minds and hearts of each character, presenting their family’s story with love, sympathy, and heart.
This joint venture will be performed at the Bing Crosby Theatre in Spokane.
Pricing for Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre main stage productions are: Adults $49, Seniors/military $42, Child $27. Call 660-2958 or visit www.cdasummertheatre.com for more information or to purchase tickets.
