| February 25, 2016 8:00 PM

Victor “Scott” McGlothlen, 53, passed away Jan. 21, 2016, in Lakewood, Wash. He was born Dec. 4, 1962, in Canoga Park, Calif., to Leonard and Lillian McGlothlen. He attended school in Post Falls, Idaho, and was an exceptional athlete.

He moved to Federal Way, Wash., in his early 20s and started working for Arctic Alaska Fisheries/Trident Seafoods out of Seattle, Wash., and Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Scott quickly worked his way up to “Deck Boss” where he and his crew were awarded “Top Producing Crab Boat in the Bering Sea” from 1983-1985. After nine years fishing in the cold Alaskan waters Scott made a move into heavy equipment operator and settled in Puyallup, Wash. He became a union man and worked for City Transfer Inc. and E.J. Rody and Sans Inc. He dug foundations for high rise buildings in downtown Seattle, and was involved in the development of the third runway at SeaTac International Airport. He won several Safety Awards for his leadership in crew safety and equipment maintenance, For those who may remember, Scott was meticulous in his vehicle care and took a lot of teasing for having the shiniest Big Rig in the company. He also received his Real Estate license and worked for Gateway Reality in Puyallup.

Scott married Debora Devine in 1991 and they had three beautiful children. He loved attending their sporting events and was involved in all their activities. One of things the family enjoyed the most was their yearly vacation to Pend Oreille Shores in Hope, Idaho. They would rent a pontoon boat to explore the lake, participate in all the condo competitions, craft making and swimming. He loved trips to the ocean, motorcycle riding, fishing, golf, watching football and NASCAR, and could debate just about any topic.

He left us suddenly and is deeply missed. Scott is survived by his son, Tyler, 25, wife Sydney and granddaughter Lyla, 1 year; daughter Rachel, 23, and son Collin, 19, all of Puyallup; his mother, Lillian Stokes of Hayden, Idaho; father Leonard McGlothlen of Simi Valley, Calif.; sister Terri Mills and nephew Kyle Mills of Dalton Gardens, Idaho; brother Jason McGlothlen of Simi Valley and his beloved schnauzer, Cricket.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard and Jewell McGlothlen, John and Mary Allen, and stepfather Dave Stokes.

Scott’s wishes to have his ashes scattered at sea will take place at a later date by his loving family.
