Jacques V. Restout, 88
Jacques Victor Restout, 88, died at home on Feb. 20, 2016, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Paris, France, on Aug. 13, 1927.
“Jack” as many knew him by, was a naturalized citizen of the U.S. in 1957. He was a highly skilled, self-taught machinist and he managed machine shops in the lumber industry in North Idaho for many years. He enjoyed history, fishing, cooking, the ocean, music and humor. He lived life to the fullest.
Jacques married Dottie Lou DeMers in 1982, embracing her family as his own. Dottie passed in 1995.
He married Elaine Kramer on Dec. 5, 2004. They lived in North Idaho and in Spokane, Wash., wintered in Rosarita BCN, Mexico, eventually moving to Laguna Woods, Calif. He loved to travel and they enjoyed many adventures worldwide.
Jacques was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Eugenie Restout, Jo Smith (sister) and Ed Smith (brother-in-law) of Sandpoint. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; stepchildren Rick Dunham of Phoenix, Ariz., Christina Miller of Rathdrum, Idaho, Terri Wells of Spokane, Wash.; niece Lena Harting and nephew Dan Smith of Sandpoint; and great-niece Dani Carrico (husband Tony, and children Mia and Allison) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
