Barbara Marie Custer, 70

Barbara Marie Custer, 70, passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2016, at Coeur d’Alene Hospice House of North Idaho. She was born Jan. 7, 1946, in North Dakota to Jane and Gustav Dade.

She was later adopted by her grandparents, Arthus and Hilda Triebwasser. She moved around a lot as a child. She came to live in Coeur d’Alene, where she met and married James E. Custer on Jan. 11, 1964. She focused on caring for her family which consisted of four children. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved the outdoors including camping, huckleberry picking and mushrooming, family picnics and barbecues. She loved to bake and cook — she worked at Steins Bakery in Rathdrum. Her husband, Jim, passed away in August 2001.

She is survived by four children, James Custer Jr., Sheri (Bryan) Strope, Robert (Cindy) Custer and David Custer; four grandchildren, Brittany, Robbert, Keven and Kaiden; three great-grandchildren, Gabe, Ely and Nazariah; and many nieces and nephews; her stepfather Vern Quinn; brother John Bischcff and sister Jackie Parr.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Real Life Church in Post Falls, 1866 N. Cecil Road, in the upper room.
