Welch Comer receives engineering awards

Welch Comer Engineers was recently recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies for projects it completed in Washington and Idaho. Welch Comer received a bronze award in Washington and a first-place award in Idaho in the council’s 2016 Engineering Excellence Competition for roles in the Hawthorne Avenue, U.S. 395 to Walnut Street project for the city of Colville and the McEuen Park and Front Avenue redevelopment project for the city of Coeur d’Alene.

Phil Boyd is principal engineer and president of the Coeur d’Alene-based engineering firm.

“Welch Comer’s skill in helping the city identify priorities, refine our vision, and complete roadways that will meet the needs of our community for generations is one reason our long-standing partnership has led to project successes like Hawthorne Avenue,” Eric Durpos, municipal services administrator for the city of Colville, said in a press release.

Coeur d’Alene Mayor Steve Widmyer also commended Welch Comer for its work.

“Welch Comer’s staff are, more than anything, problem solvers who are professional, imaginative, and effective,” Widmyer said.
