Marcia Ann Treend, 78
Marcia Ann Treend, 78, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Feb. 10, 2016, and is now with her dear Lord and Savior. Marcia was born on July 16, 1937, in Springfield, Ohio. She was a wife, mother, professional musician and faithful and loving servant of her Lord Jesus Christ.
Marcia fell in love at the age of 14 with the president of her high school orchestra (Edward Earle Treend) and they were married for 57 years. Having moved from Detroit in the late 1960s, Post Falls has been their home base for the last 47 years. She was an accomplished cello player, playing first chair for the Detroit Women’s Symphony, Spokane Chamber Orchestra and the Spokane Symphony. She taught music at Fort Wright College and used her gift for improvisational worship. She stopped playing regularly as life took over and focused on raising four children and building a life in the Pacific Northwest with her loving husband and family.
Marcia spent a life serving God and those around her. She had an adventurous spirit and was always ready to learn new things, which kept her spirit young. Much of her legacy is how many people she touched in her life with a positive and encouraging word or prayer. She loved her family dearly, enjoyed her travels to Africa, Alaska and Hawaii.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Earle Treend; her brother, Charles Robert Whitlock; her four children, Deborah Ann Leyde, Kevin Earle Treend, Daniel Scott Treend and Colin Matthew Treend, and their wonderful and supportive spouses, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Gateway Christian Fellowship.
