Helen L. Knott, 89

Helen L. Knott, 89, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Jan. 20, 2016, at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Spokane, Wash., to Edgar and Gladys (Ristau) Seiter.

At an early age, the family moved from Spokane to Coeur d’Alene, and then to Post Falls in 1935. Helen graduated from Post Falls High School and then from Deaconess School of Nursing in 1947. She married Leland T. Knott on June 29, 1947, in Post Falls.

Helen worked at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane and then Kootenai Memorial as a surgical nurse. She retired in 1984.

Helen was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Post Falls. She loved reading, quilting and counted cross stitching. She enjoyed attending all of the Deaconess Nursing reunions.

She is survived by her two children: Marcia and husband Howard Hughes of Post Falls, and Jamie Knott of Portland, Ore.; two granddaughters: Meredith and husband John Martin, and Melissa and husband Jason Story; great-grandchildren Quinn, Kaylee and Nick; special nephews Jerry Eggart and Larry Eggart.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband in 2006, and two sisters, Dorothy Puryear and Lois Eggart.

Memorial contributions are requested to the Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way Hayden, ID 83835 or Calvary Lutheran Church, 1011 N. Compton St., Post Falls, ID 83854.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1011 N. Compton St., Post Falls, with a reception to follow. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
