Democrats to caucus March 22 in Cd'A

| February 16, 2016 8:00 PM

Kootenai County Democrats will host a caucus March 22 to select preferences among candidates for the Democratic nominee for the president of the United States.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Kootenai County Democrats to have a real say in selecting our next president,” said Paula Neils, chair of the Kootenai County Democratic Party. “We are expecting a large turnout so we encourage people to register early at kootenaidemocrats.org or idahocaucus2016.org.”

Participants may also register at the door and are encouraged to put their names forward at the caucus to participate as delegates to the state convention in Boise in June.

The caucus will be held at North Idaho College’s Schuler Performing Arts Center, 1000 W. Garden, Coeur d’Alene. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The caucus will begin promptly at 6 p.m. when the outside doors will close and no more people will be admitted. Parking is free.

Anyone who wants to participate as a Democrat, has not participated in any other 2016 presidential selection process (i.e. the Republican presidential primary), and who will be a registered voter of the county on Nov. 8, 2016, may participate in the caucus. The meeting is open to the public.

A pre-caucus informational presentation about the delegate selection process at the caucus is scheduled on Feb. 26, 2016, noon, at the Democratic Club luncheon at the Iron Horse Bar & Grill in Coeur d’Alene. The public is invited to attend; questions are encouraged.
