PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Coeur d'Alene holds off Sandpoint

| February 14, 2016 8:15 PM

COEUR d’ALENE — Joey Naccarato had 23 points and six rebounds to lead the Coeur d’Alene Vikings to a 65-55 win over the Sandpoint Bulldogs in a nonleague game at Elmer Jordan Court on Saturday night.

“We just weren’t real sharp all night,” Coeur d’Alene coach Kurt Lundblad said. “I didn’t think we played with a lot of energy and focus. I thought Sandpoint worked harder than we did, and when you work hard, good things are going to happen for you. And that’s what they did to us tonight. We won the game, but Sandpoint did a lot of really good things. Credit to them for that.”

Brody Lundblad and Jakob Lynn had 11 points apiece for Coeur d’Alene (17-4), which opens the 5A Region 1 tournament on Friday by hosting Post Falls at 7 p.m.

Davan Norris scored 15 points for Sandpoint (5-14), which plays at Lakeland on Thursday.

COEUR d’ALENE — In one of its final nonleague warmup games, the Timberwolves beat the Bears.

Not that they’re necessarily happy with their entire effort.

“It’s always great to have a fun win,” Lake City assistant Kelly Reed said. “But if we want to have success in the regional tournament, we’ll need to have more energy defensively. We played with some juice, but for the most parts we were pretty flat on both ends of the court.”

Kenny Louie-McGee had a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for Lake City (6-14) and Kyle Manzardo scored 15 points. James Carlson almost did the same with 10 points and nine rebounds. Duncan Butler had six points and nine rebounds.

Glen Gosse led all scorers with 19 points for Moscow (1-16).
