Nathalie Doris Mitchell (Lunden), 91

Nathalie Doris Mitchell (Lunden), of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully Feb. 12, 2016, at the age of 91. She was born April 28, 1924, to Edward and Lila Lunden in Brandt, S.D.

After graduating from Brandt High School, she began working in Sioux Falls, S.D., where she met her future husband, Frederic E. Mitchell Sr. They were married Nov. 30, 1945, in Walla Walla, Wash. Nathalie moved many times with Fred during his USAF military career, adding three sons along the way at three different Air Force bases. In 1964, the family moved to Coeur d’Alene. After selling their home in Fernan Village in 1989, the couple moved to Lake Tower Apartments until their health declined in 2014.

Besides being a wonderful wife, homemaker and mother, Nathalie has served as a first-grade Sunday School teacher and continued in many church activities. She bowled in the 3Cs Cancer League and enjoyed various craft projects, quilting and creating baptismal banners, as well as her famous beaded Christmas ornaments. She also loved to travel abroad and road trips to visit relatives while shopping along the way. She became a grandmother in 1982 and cherished her grandsons, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Christopher and Fred III. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.

Nathalie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Frederic E. Mitchell Sr. of Coeur d’Alene; Edward and Cindy Mitchell of Coeur d’Alene; David and Charlene Mitchell, Memphis, Tenn., Frederic Jr. and Mary Mitchell of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; a sister, Rosella Naeve of Milbank, S.D.; brother Roy Lunden of Sioux Falls; and nieces and nephews.

Nathalie was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Freda Lunden.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Peace Lutheran Church in Post Falls, Idaho.
