Indoor bike relay to benefit police, fire memorial foundation
POST FALLS — The eighth annual indoor bike relay to benefit the nonprofit Kootenai County Police and Fire Memorial Foundation will be held at Peak Health and Wellness Center, on Feb. 19.
The charity event, running from 6 a.m. to midnight at 927 E. Polston Ave. in Post Falls, has been renamed Moore Guns & Hoses K27 in honor of former Coeur d'Alene police Sgt. Greg Moore who was shot and killed in the line of duty last year.
"Last year he rode in the event and, little did he know, he was riding for himself and his family," said Post Falls Police Capt. Pat Knight, who is helping organize the event.
The foundation supports family members of police and firefighters who were injured or killed in the line of duty.
The fundraiser is open to the community.
Riders and non-riders are encouraged to fundraise by asking their friends, co-workers and family members to donate on their behalf. Teams are asked to raise at least $480 or $30 per hour of ride.
Anyone is welcome to attend the event and enjoy the other attractions and auction.
The agenda includes, but is not limited to: a Frisbee toss at 8 a.m., K9 demonstration at 10 a.m., police identification for kids at 3 p.m., karaoke hour at 9 p.m. and scavenger hunt at 10 p.m.
Kids ages 5 to 13 are welcome to come from 3 to 5 p.m.
There will also be auction items for sale.
