PREP WRESTLING: Kellogg wins at Bonners

BONNERS FERRY — Will Edelblute (106 pounds), Tavis Woempner (113), Brian Edelblute (120) and Antonio Brown (220) claimed championships in their respective weight classes for Lakeland, which finished third in the eight-team Bonners Ferry Invitational on Saturday.

“Overall, the kids wrestled really well,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “We were happy with the way the kids wrestled and performed.”

Chandler Axtell (106), Sage See (152) and Dan Behmer (182) finished runner-up for Lakeland, which competes at Timberlake on Tuesday.

Tanner Figueroa (132), Jaden Ballard (138), Robby Smith (160) and Tucker Day (170) won championships for Kellogg, which claimed the team title with 176.5 points.

MERIDIAN — Sandpoint’s Casey Randles beat Tate Grover of American Falls by an 18-3 major decision in their matchup at 182 pounds in the Idaho Wrestling Hall of Fame Classic on Saturday at Meridian High.

Post Falls freshman Ridge Lovett won by major decision at 98 pounds and Matt McLeod won by decision at 120.

WEISER — The Tigers failed to land a placer, but scored enough team points to finish 10th in the 15-team Weiser Invitational.
