SANDPOINT — After scoring 35 points in the previous matchup against the Bears, Davan Norris was held to 11 for the Bulldogs in a 4A Inland Empire League loss to the Bears at Les Rogers Court.

“Our biggest problem was that we finished 2 for 18 from the 3-point line,” Sandpoint coach Kent Leiss said. “We led 27-18 in the third quarter, but we just ran out of gas.”

Sandpoint’s JV team is down to five players, with some varsity reserves playing extra minutes in that game on Saturday so that the Bulldogs didn’t forfeit that game, at the same time cutting into varsity minutes.

“We just got tired in the fourth quarter,” Leiss said. “They came out with a strong defensive gameplan against Davan and we just didn’t do enough to pick up the slack.”

With Sandpoint’s (5-12, 1-2 4A IEL) loss, Lakeland (7-11, 3-0) wraps up the league title and will be the top seed to the 4A Region 1 tournament starting on Feb. 22 at North Idaho College.
