Kootenai Democrats to host Pelosi

| February 6, 2016 8:00 PM

COEUR d’ALENE — The Kootenai County Democrats have selected their guest speaker, Christine Pelosi, for their annual North Idaho Democracy Dinner on Feb. 20.

The dinner will be held 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn following a daylong campaign boot camp event with Pelosi.

Pelosi, the daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been a volunteer in politics since the stroller. She is a California attorney, author and activist, and has traveled to 41 states over the past 10 years working with dozens of successful candidates and thousands of volunteers at leadership boot camps based on her books: "Campaign Boot Camp: Basic Training for Future Leaders" and "Campaign Boot Camp 2.0."

Christine holds a JD from UC Hastings and a BSFS from Georgetown. She has served as prosecutor in San Francisco, special counsel in the Clinton-Gore administration, and chief of staff on Capitol Hill.

Currently serving as California Democratic Party Women’s Caucus Chair, Pelosi has been elected five times to the Democratic National Committee, where she co-founded the DNC Veterans and Military Families Council.

This year the North Idaho Democracy Dinner has a full day of events. Beginning at 11:30 a.m., a Leadership Boot Camp will be led by Pelosi. The boot camp will encompass leadership lessons, campaign strategy, building coalitions and advancing democracy. The cost of the workshop boot camp is $75 and includes lunch. If you are interested in attending both the boot camp and the dinner, the cost is $100.

Dinner tickets are on sale now for $36 individual or $325 for a table at kootenaidemocrats.org or contact Tamara Poelstra (208) 704-6943.
