Sally J. Smith

| February 5, 2016 5:25 PM

Sally J. Smith, of Spirit Lake, went to be with her Lord and Savior On Feb. 25, 2016.  She passed at home with her husband and best friend of 44 years and 10 months.  She was a true inspiration for so many as she battled five separate cancers over the past 29 and a half years.  She confounded and challenged her many doctors over the years and provided them with many training and educational opportunities.

Sally and her husband, David, retired after his (their) two 21 year careers with USAF and the BNSF railroad and made their retirement home and lives in Spirit Lake.

Sally also leaves behind their son, Chad David, of Chico, CA and their daughter, Heather Jane Turney and her husband, Aaron, and three granddaughters, Kaylee, Madysen and Lexi.  She also leaves her brothers, Mark Zempel, of Stillwater, MN and Keith and his wife, Kay, of Granite Falls, MN.

Sally and the family request that, in lieu of flowers, a memorial be made to the building fund for the new church facility for the Spirit Lake First Lutheran Church, PO Box 100, Spirit Lake, ID 83869.  A memorial/celebration of life will be held at the church, located at 6029 W. Jefferson St., on Feb. 19, 2016.
