PREP WRESTLING: Sandpoint pins down Lake City

SANDPOINT — The visiting Lake City Timberwolves jumped out to an early advantage, but wins in 10 of the final 12 matches helped the Sandpoint Bulldogs to a 58-21 dual victory on Saturday.

“The kids battled hard,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “We took our lumps, but the kids battled hard. We had six guys out of the lineup tonight and put some freshmen in and they fought hard and competed. All in all, it was a good night.”

Ricky Thomas (113 pounds), Hayden Chatwin (120) and Brandon Badilla (126) won the opening three matches for Lake City, which hosts Lewiston tonight at 6.

“I think we’ll be back to full strength tonight,” Owen said. “We’re looking forward to having a good match against Lewiston.”

Owen Stebbins (182), Casey Randles (195), Zach Alamillo (220), Emilio Walters (132), Preston Bunty (138), Hyrum Hunsaker (145) and Justin Hobson (285) won by pin for Sandpoint.
