SCHOOL: Choice is critical

| February 3, 2016 8:00 PM

The right to choose the type of school I wish to attend is important to me. One reason it is important is because everyone has a different learning style. Some students enjoy going to a public school because they like the social interaction and they like to be taught daily by a teacher. They also like to be told what their schedule is every day. Then there are some kids who like to be at home to study and complete their work independently. These kids do not need to be in a very scheduled environment.

Another reason for school choice is students may drop out of classes more if they are forced to attend a certain school. If someone who works independently was forced to attend a brick and mortar school they might not do as well and vice versa. That can have a large affect because if kids drop out of school the funding for the school decreases. This causes a problem for all schools because it can affect sports, music! and art classes. Everyone suffers.

Every child learns differently and all families should be allowed to make their own choices about their schooling.
