PRESS: Positive front pages

| February 3, 2016 8:00 PM

I would like to comment on the “Death in the Valley” — 3 page story in Sunday’s Press.

First of all, the death of Brianna Cook was very tragic. I am very saddened and sympathetic to what happened to such a young person, and still not resolved to date. However, do you think Staff Writer Keith Cousins could come up with something a little more positive on the front page, to end the first month of the new year? Was it really necessary to make a 3 page story for something that happened two and half years ago?

I feel very badly for Brianna’s family and friends, and I hope that they will be able to find out the truth. I feel the majority of folks in the community appreciate getting some POSITIVE headlines in our local paper, versus Sunday’s story, this seems to happen quite often — is it REALLY necessary? It would be very nice to have some nice huge headline of something positive that recently happened. Even if one chooses not to read the article — you still can’t miss the headline. Is the paper getting that desperate to seek out old sad news, and 3 pages worth? I guess we can look forward to down the road headlines — Zombies have arrived in the Northwest!

The world we live in is not so pleasant, however, we need to help, encourage, and be positive, and take care of one another, and try to make a difference so it can be a better place. Why don’t we try by being uplifting with our words and actions, and what we put in the headlines in our small corner of the world.
