Steven Neal Olesen, 62

Steven Neal Olesen, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at the age of 62. Steve was born on Aug. 15, 1953, in Spencer, Iowa. He was the son of Jack Olesen and Marilyn Mears.

Steve graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1971. He then attended Northeast Iowa Technical College in Calmar, Iowa. In 1973, Steve married Patricia Ann Humpal, with whom he spent nearly 29 years raising their three children, Christina Lynn Olesen, Benjamin Michael Olesen and Elizabeth Ann Olesen. Steve worked as a financial officer for several auto and RV dealerships throughout his career, most recently Blue Dog RV in Post Falls, Idaho.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jack Olesen; stepmother Shirley Olesen; brother John Olesen and brother-in-law Chuck Mitchell.

Steve is survived by his mother, Marilyn Mears; children, Christi Olesen, Ben Olesen and Elizabeth Olesen; sisters Nancy (Olesen) Mitchell and Susie (Olesen) Herrin; brother David Olesen; sister-in-law Barb Olesen; nieces and nephews, Ozzie Olesen, Darlys (Olesen) Werner, Julie (Olesen) Dieppa, Jennifer (Olesen) Beebe, Tom Olesen, Sean Mitchell, Sunny Herrin and Danny Herrin.

Steve was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Steve enjoyed the outdoors, whether on the golf course, at the lake or in the backyard. He also enjoyed playing cards and games with friends and family. No matter what the occasion, his jolly laughter was contagious and brought a smile to your face. He had the most loving spirit and giving heart. Wherever he was, no one was left wanting.

There will be a memorial service for Steve at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at Pit Stop Tavern in Post Falls.
