Cold temperatures to keep shelter open

| February 2, 2016 8:00 PM

COEUR d’ALENE — The St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho Warming Center remained open Monday evening through tonight, but future nights will be extended as temperatures fall below 28 degrees.

The Post Falls shelter is located at 202 W. Seventh Ave. in Post Falls, behind the Post Falls St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, in the Kamps Apartments basement.

Transportation will be leaving from the St. Vincent de Paul Community Dining Hall at 6:30 p.m. on the nights the shelters are open, and will transport back the next morning.

St. Vincent de Paul is able to shelter 45 individuals and will have available sleeping bags, blankets, gloves, stocking caps, coats, bathroom supplies, warm food and drinks. The Coeur d’Alene site will be used as overflow.

St. Vincent de Paul extended a warm thanks to everyone who has taken the time to donate sleeping bags, blankets and food.

“Thank you to the churches and families who have been bringing warm meals to us,” they wrote in a press release. “Everything has been so appreciated by those we serve.”

Those who wish to donate to the shelters can contact Warming Center coordinator Ben at (208) 771-5396.
