BERMS: Unbeatable foes

| December 7, 2016 8:00 PM

As winter comes I was thinking of previous letters about plowing and berms left at the end of our driveways. Mr. Koch should feel fortunate that he lives where he does. I also live in Coeur d’Alene, in the Fernan School area. We are plowed in with large berms across our driveways. My neighbor and I both have health issues that make shoveling these berms difficult.

Last year I called the street department to ask if there is anything they can do to ease the work of clearing these berms. I was told nothing can/will be done and people who live in my neighborhood just have to live with this.

To those of you in Coeur d’Alene who don’t have to work to clear these berms, you are very fortunate. Think of the rest of us who struggle with this every year, especially when we are trying to leave for work in the morning or coming home at night and can’t get our vehicles in and out of our driveways.
