PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Kootenai rolls in NSL opener

HARRISON FLATS — Aspen Green and Paxton Dotson scored 10 points each as the Kootenai Warriors raced out to an 18-4 lead after the first quarter, beating the Mullan Tigers 45-20 in the North Star League opener for both schools on Wednesday.

“We came out with a hot hand there and got off to a good roll in the first quarter and kind of slowed the game down in the second and third quarters,” Kootenai coach Doug Napierala said. “The speed of the game picked up in the fourth quarter. I thought we did a good job of getting a comfortable lead.”

Yazmin Gallaway led Mullan in scoring with nine points.

Kootenai (2-1) hosts the Kellogg JV team on Friday.

Mullan (0-5) hosts Wallace on Tuesday.
