SIMS: End Press persecution
It amazes me that the Coeur d’Alene Press feels an obligation to repeatedly report on a traffic ticket concerning State Rep. Kathy Sims. She has been an extremely generous member of our community as well as a successful businesswoman who has received national recognition for her expertise in the automotive industry. The Press has inaccurately reported the incident with inference of impropriety and my question is “Why?” As with all incidents, there are two sides to the story.
The Press inferred that Kathy Sims was not being compliant with the officer who called and asked for her address. In reality, because of phone scams we’ve all experienced, Kathy Sims was not being defiant but rather was hesitant to provide her address over the phone to a caller who says they were a policeman. Kathy Sims drove down to the police station and paid her fine. It’s resolved.
Should 40 years of outstanding service to our community be negated by a misunderstanding over a traffic ticket? Such bias and innuendo by the Coeur d’Alene Press is inexcusable. Such behavior only undermines their credibility.
