Cd'A woman faces attempted murder charge
POST FALLS — A 36-year-old Coeur d'Alene woman was being held at the Kootenai County jail on Tuesday on a $200,000 bond for attempted murder after witnesses said she fired a handgun at another woman in Post Falls.
The suspect, Nicole M. King, was arrested after the alleged incident on Sunday. She faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, destruction of evidence, felon in possession of a firearm, introduction of contraband into jail and possession of drug paraphernalia.
King was arrested after sheriff's deputies responded to a call around 11:20 p.m. The caller reported her 29-year-old daughter was being shot at by King.
Witnesses claimed King threatened the younger woman via text messages and then drove to her house, and fired one shot at the alleged victim as the younger woman drove away in her car. The victim’s car was not hit and no one was injured.
Kootenai County Sheriff's Office Lt. Stu Miller said he didn't know how close the bullet came to hitting the victim.
According to witnesses, King also pointed the gun at the victim’s 37-year-old boyfriend, and threatened him. King then fled the area.
With the assistance of Coeur d’Alene police officers, deputies canvassed the area around King’s home in Coeur d’Alene. According to the sheriff's office, King was found sitting in her parked car in the alley behind a business near North Government Way and East Harrison Avenue.
King has an extensive criminal background in multiple states. Miller said investigators believe she is relatively new to the area and from Illinois.
