With inside tables and catering, Panera offers freshly baked breads, pastries, bagels, spreads, breakfasts, soups, salads, broth bowls, pastas, mac-n-cheese, paninis, sandwiches, flatbreads, kids’ meals and many beverages (no alcohol).

The company began in 1981 in St. Louis and has about 2,000 outlets in 46 states and Canada. Open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays, the Hayden cafe is hiring for about 70 positions. Check www.panerabread.com. Phone 762-2129.

Community 1st Bank coming downtown

A loan production office will be the first portion of Community 1st Bank coming into the former KXLY building at 503 E. Sherman Ave.

Planning to occupy 2,300 square feet in the building in December, the bank will include a drive-through on the east side and an ATM on the front. The address has many parking spaces on the south end.

About 3,500 square feet is available for lease in the remainder of the building through Mike Gregg of Coldwell Banker-Schneidmiller Realty.

Dave Bobbitt of Community 1st said eventually the place will become a full-service bank and “when big banks leave (as Bank of America did downtown), Community Banks need to go in.”

Community 1st has banks at Highway 95 and Hanley and in Post Falls. Check www.com1stbankid.com.

Now for the Tidbits

- Watch for news on Hart Capital in the McEuen Terrace building and Sweet Lou’s Restaurant and Tap House in the Parkside building on Front Ave., a Verizon store at Appleway-Fourth, Grabbagreen at Highway 95-Neider, Hayden Medical Plaza & Clinics in Hayden and the gas station-convenience store in the southwest corner of Highway 95 and Lancaster.

- On Sherman Avenue watch for Baked-In Rustic restaurant at 309 Sherman (next to Clark’s Jewelry), Mountain Madness Soap at 310 Sherman (the former Everson Jewelry building) and a Starbucks where the gas-convenience store is at Sherman and Seventh.

- More places coming include Schini Family Dentistry building a new place in Riverstone and Sweeto Burrito near Winco. New places in Post Falls will be Popeyes, Green & Grounds Coffee Shop, Cricket Wireless, Silverlake Automotive, The Lean Bean and Dutch Bros. Coffee.

- Places evidently coming to the revised Post Falls Outlet Mall include 59:Escape Adventures, Ace Industrial Supply, SNR Costume Rental, Black-Ops Self Defense, My Big Fat Greek Deli, a comic book store and a coffee espresso store.

- With school starting, once again the intersections of west-bound Dalton Avenue really need right-hand turn lanes where it meets Government Way and Highway 95. This is especially needed for emergency vehicles coming from the sheriff’s building.

- ”Pore” means to gaze intently as “She pored over her books.” “Pour” means a continuous stream as “He poured the coffee.”

- While in Seattle this week we saw the Mariners lose a close game to the Yankees. It was fascinating and affordable; we sat in the highest level right above home plate for $31. A “neighbor” asked, “Why do they call misses ‘strikes?’ A strike means to hit something.” Hmmm.
