Press Release 8/17/2016 Black Rock Utilities, Inc. (BRU), located in Kootenai County, Idaho, is an Idaho Non-Profit which operates the water and sewer systems in the area near Loffs Bay Road, Clubhouse Drive, and the Rock Creek of Idaho (RCI) Development. BRU announced today that its operators had discovered a broken valve at the RCI Clubhouse pumping system, which feeds effluent to the sewage treatment lagoon. The break has potentially released 28,800 gallons of untreated waste water that was contained within existing drainage pathways consisting of approximately 750 feet of cattails and grassy ditch line along Rockford Bay Road in front of the Worley Fire Substation. After repairing the break, 5,500 gallons of highly chlorinated potable water was pumped down the same ditch line to sanitize the area. BRU's hydro-geologist has been on-site to evaluate any impacts on the surrounding land, even though no wells are present in the area. The Department of Environmental Quality was contacted and visited the site. They will be apprised of all findings and actions, and will be provided with written follow-up information, which is customary in events such as these.
