Audition today for Northwest Sacred Chorale
The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale is looking for people who love to sing.
“We’re a disparate group in age, professional background and current occupation; what unites us is a love of choral music, and delight in being part of something greater than ourselves,” said the group’s invitation to potential new members.
Stan McDaniel, artistic director, will audition singers today beginning at 3 p.m. at Peace of Lutheran Church, 8134 N. Meyer Road, Post Falls. It’s a simple 10-minute audition. Singers will be asked to vocalize a bit, sing a phrase or two of a hymn and share their musical backgrounds and interest in the chorale.
The audition will follow the chorale’s Fall Retreat, which begins at 9 a.m. at the church. Those interested in joining the chorale are invited to attend the retreat, which offers an opportunity to meet and greet chorale members, discuss the coming season’s music, and enjoy a potluck salad lunch.
The chorale’s season opens with the call concert “Praise Unending” in late October; the program features Mozart’s Solemn Vespers and includes works of Holst, Mendelssohn and Grieg. The Christmas concert “Behold That Star” includes a Vivaldi Gloria along with works of Corelli and Mendelssohn, and a familiar carol sing-along. The season will finish with spring’s crowning work — the Passion and Resurrection scenes from The Messiah.
Tickets will go on sale by Oct. 1, including season tickets at a 25 percent discount.
