Arthur F. 'Buster' Withers, 83
Buster Withers, 83, of Athol, Idaho, “rode off into the sunset” Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Hospice House of North Idaho.
He was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Denver, Colo., to Solan and Ollie Withers. He moved with his family to Mountain Home, Idaho, in 1939. He married Irene Shreffler in 1958 in Elko, Nev., after a whirlwind courtship of three weeks. With the marriage to Irene, he welcomed a “ready-made” family with the addition of Loreen and Dinah Raye. In 1959, Buster’s pride and joy arrived and they welcomed Pilar Nannette.
For many years, Buster worked as a cowboy “on the range,” drove truck and worked in sawmills for many years. He retired from Louisiana Pacific, in Sandpoint, in 1994. After retirement, Buster became the “designated” baby sitter for Pilar’s son, Spencer.
His children survive him: Loreen Howard of Athol, Dinah Raye (Roger) of Athol and Pilar of Athol. His surviving siblings include: Thelma (Paul) Loll of Mountain Home, Dean (LaDonna) Withers of Mountain Home and Gene (Vivian) Withers of Deer Park, Wash. His surviving grandchildren include: Spencer (Ashley) Rink, Josh (Crystal) Smith, Clay (Hilary) Howard, Ellery Howard and Nathan (Jim) Howard. His wife, Irene; his parents; three brothers and one sister, precede Buster in death.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at Mountain View Cemetery in Athol. A memorial celebration will be held on a later date. Everyone is welcome to attend.
