| August 25, 2016 9:00 PM

Nyla June Peck, 85, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Mountain View Cemetery in Athol, Idaho, with Rev. Vicenta Cisneros officiating.

June was born on June 29, 1931, in Faith, S.D., to Vernon and Alyce (Rosenfelt) Briney. At age 9, the family moved to Prairie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene. She met Bob Peck on a blind date in 1948, she graduated from high school in May 1949, and married Bob on Dec. 4, 1949. They built a one-bedroom home near Farragut.

With six kids it was a very busy household. At one time, she had three in diapers and no running water. She baked bread every week. She taught all of her kids how to cook, sew, knit, embroider and weed the huge garden. They added onto the house twice and put in a well. June beat cancer twice. In 2012, they moved to Sagle, and after Bob’s passing she moved to Sandpoint.

She enjoyed reading, painting, decorating cakes, sewing, crocheting snowflakes and Easter egg covers, knitting afghans, sweaters, socks, booties and wash cloths. She made matching dresses for her granddaughter’s dolls. She also loved making her “banana everythings,” sourdough baked goods, and giving everyone a wash cloth.

She is survived by her two sons, James (Penny) Peck of Athol and Scott (Maree) Peck of Westmond, Idaho; four daughters, Diane (Allen) Moore of Warden, Wash., Yvonne (Bob) Jaqueth of Careywood, Idaho, Wanda (Al) Harris of Careywood and Tina (Ken) Littlefield of Sagle, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, Heather, Aaron, Holly, Chad, Joseph, Kyle, Steve, Ray, Amanda, Chris, Jennifer and Jeffrey; 22 great-grandchildren; brother Skip (Sharon) Briney; two sisters, Joyce Fleener and Kathy (Bob) Hoffman; numerous nieces and nephews; and in-laws Al and Edith Peck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and grandson Patrick Lambert.
