Gert spent her formative years and early adulthood in Illinois, where she married the love of her life, Art Scott, on Feb. 9, 1946. Two sons followed: Gary in 1949, and Randy in 1954. Art and Gert migrated West to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., in 1969, and then on to Idaho in 1990. Three years after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, Art passed away.

Gert was an accomplished professional in the secular field, where, among other things, she worked as an executive secretary for the St. Louis law firm Armstrong, Teasdale & Vaughn. However, she was even more adept as a supportive wife and loving mother, carefully balancing her family life with her career.

Scott in Castaic, Calif.; seven grandchildren consisting of Stacy Weldishofer in Sharonville, Ohio, Natalie Clark in Hayden, Christy Hunt in Athol, Nicole Overman in Post Falls, Ryan Scott in Coeur d’Alene, Erik Scott in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Sean Scott in Castaic. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren (another great-grandchild is predeceased); and two great-great-grandchildren.

Gert was a firm believer of the Bible’s hope of a resurrection to perfect life on a paradise Earth. And so is her family, who long for the time we can see her and Art together again, reunited with their friends and loved ones. A memorial explaining the scriptural basis for her hope will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8162 W. Nagel, Rathdrum.
