MOSCOW — The Idaho Vandals wrapped up fall camp with a lively two-hour scrimmage that left head coach Paul Petrino with good impressions all around.

“You have to go watch in on tape,” he said, “but standing out here, I felt like it was good, really good.”

Petrino had praise for all positions on both sides of the ball — and depth all around, too.

“Matt (Linehan) did some really good things; different guys made plays,” Petrino said. “The defense was flying around. I saw them jumping the ball and making a couple interceptions.”

That being said, mistakes need to be eliminated all the way around before the Vandals hosts Montana State on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. in their opener.

“From this point on,” Petrino said, “we’re going to focus on Montana State. We can focus on what we’re going to run against them. We should eliminate any assignment errors; get them down to zero.”
