Hops drop Indians

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Alexis Olmeda tripled and singled twice to send the Hillsboro Hops past the Spokane Indians 5-2 in Northwest League baseball in front of 3,255 at Ron Tonkin Field on Saturday.

Spokane has lost three straight games.

Trailing 3-0 in the third, Spokane (9-14 second half) cut into the deficit on Luis Terrerro’s two-run double.

Hillsboro (13-10) answered in the bottom of the inning as Olmeda tripled to drive in Luke Lowery.

Spokane missed a scoring opportunity in the fourth inning as Charles Leblanc struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

The Indians finished the game 1 for 15 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 runners on base.

The teams continue the series today at 1 p.m.
