POST FALLS — Highland Park Estates residents are rallying to show their appreciation and support for Post Falls Police.

The residents will hold an appreciation spaghetti dinner open to the public on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 3 to 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 143, 1138 E. Poleline Ave.

All of the proceeds from the event will go toward the police department's K9 program, which is funded on donations.

"We need to do something for our officers to show them that we are on their side," said organizer Terie Huston.

Huston said she and neighbor Rusty Langhans decided to do something to show support for police after a shooting in another city.

She said the fundraiser idea quickly drew support as more than 30 residents are involved and local businesses have also made donations.

The American Legion is donating the use of its facility for the event.

The dinner will also include salad, garlic bread, coffee or tea and dessert. The cost is $5 per person or $15 for a family of up to four.

There will also be a 50-50 raffle.
