K27 Forever Benefit Concert is Aug. 28

| August 19, 2016 9:00 PM

A concert Aug. 28 in McEuen Park will benefit the effort to build the K27 Fallen Officers Memorial in the park.

The K27 Forever Benefit Concert will be held from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Performers include the band “The Power” and other musical talent. The event, hosted by Tyler Davis who runs the Live After 5 downtown summer concert series, will also offer food, fun, games and a short appreciation program. It is sponsored by the city of Coeur d’Alene, the Panhandle Parks Foundation and Davis Enterprises.

Tickets are $10. Kids are free. The proceeds will support the memorial fundraising. Tickets can be purchased via panhandleparks@gmail.com or by calling (208) 446-4813 or by email to Tyler@liveafter5CDA.com.

The concert follows a recent $2,000 donation by the Avista Foundation, which was accepted by Mayor Steve Widmyer and the Panhandle Parks Foundation, the lead nonprofit collecting donations for the memorial.

“We are so grateful to the Avista Foundation for its support,” Mayor Widmyer said. “We encourage other businesses and organizations to consider a donation. With the help of us all, we can make this important project a reality.”

The memorial will honor Sgt. Greg Moore, whose call letters were “K27” and other fallen officers around the nation. Sgt. Moore was shot early in the morning on May 5, 2015, while on patrol. He left behind a wife and two children.

The mayor, the parks foundation and a group of community volunteers, are leading the charge for a $850,000, privately fundraised K27 Memorial to be placed in McEuen Park, just south of the Fourth Street park bridge.

Those interested in donating to the memorial project can do so online at k27forever.com or mail a check to “Greg Moore Memorial Fund,” c/o Mayor Steve Widmyer, Coeur d’Alene City Hall, 710 E. Mullan Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
