Indians rally past Canadians
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Darius Day singled to score Seth Spivey with the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth inning and Preston Scott scored later in the inning on a bases-loaded walk as the Spokane Indians beat the Vancouver Canadians 4-2 in Northwest League baseball in front of 6,413 at Nat Bailey Stadium on Wednesday.
Bralian Perez singled to score Stephen Lohr to open the scoring for Spokane (9-11 second half), which had lost its previous five games.
J.B. Woodman hit a solo home run leading off the bottom of the third for Vancouver (7-13), which took a 2-1 lead when Nash Knight stole home.
Sal Mendez allowed two earned runs over six innings to improve to 5-3 on the season.
Evan Smith took the loss on the mound in 1 1/3 innings of relief.
The teams resume the three-game series tonight at 7:05.
