Holiday show seeks local performers

| August 18, 2016 9:00 PM

“Traditions of Christmas,” a Laura Little Theatricals production, will make its fifth appearance in Coeur d’Alene this coming holiday season.

The show takes the audience on a journey through time and heritage by presenting a combination of Christmas classics in song and dance. The show also offers a glimpse of Santa’s workshop, a USO performance to honor the military and a grand Nativity conclusion.

The show is looking to cast 65 local talents ages 8-80, and needs all types of performers including Rockette-style tap dancers and simple chorus singers.

Auditions will be held Aug. 29 and 30. Most roles rehearse only once a week.

Performers needed:

Children between the ages of 8 and 12: These roles require both singing and dance skills and rehearsals are Wednesday evenings in the fall.

Adult and teen vocalists: No dancing required for these roles and rehearsals will be Monday nights in the fall.

Teen jazz dancers/vocalist: These roles need to have some vocal skills as well as dance experience. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings.

Four males and four females ages 17-40: These roles represent the lead Christmas couples. They rehearse two times a week and require strong vocal and movement skills.

Backstage help and seamstresses: While the 400-plus costumes have been created, help is needed by locals with sewing skills for fittings and alterations.

Auditions will be held at Expressions School of Dance in Post Falls and rehearsals will begin mid- to- late September for most roles. If someone is unable to make the audition dates, alternate dates can be discussed by contacting the organization.

“Traditions of Christmas” will play at the Kroc Center Dec. 9-23.
