VOLLEYBALL

Arlaina Stephenson, who will be a junior at Lake City High this fall, competed in the USA Volleyball 2016 High Performance Championships July 14-24 at the Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Teams were selected from High Performance tryouts held throughout the U.S. in early spring. Only 22 made the Continental USA Volleyball Team, then were divided into two teams which competed against 16 other HP teams. The team including Stephenson, an outside hitter and team captain, started out the first two days undefeated and finished fourth in the Gold bracket.

GOLF

US Kids Spokane Tour: Three junior golf tournaments remain on the US Kids Spokane Tour.

They are Aug. 22 at The Links, Aug. 28 at Downriver in Spokane, and Aug. 29 at Hayden Lake Country Club.

AAU BASKETBALL

Spokane Stars camp: The Stars’ weekly basketball skills camp begins Sunday, Sept. 11 at The Fitness Center, 14210 E. Sprague in Spokane Valley, camp director and Spokane Stars president Ron Adams announced.

Camps will be held each Sunday in the fall, and cost $20 per session.

Level 2 (entering grades 4-7) will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Level 3 (grades 8-12) will meet from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Girls are asked to bring their own basketball.
