Fire strikes single-family home

A fire nearly demolished a single-family home on North Hauser Lake Road early Sunday morning.

No one was in the house at the time of the fire and the cause remains unknown. Hauser Lake Fire Protection District Chief Larry Simms said the cause will most likely never be determined due to the extent of the damage to the home.

“It’s pretty much a total loss,” Simms said of the destruction.

A call was received by the Hauser Lake Fire Protection at 7:30 a.m.

The Hauser Lake Fire Protection District was joined by the Northern Lakes Fire District and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue to fight the fire.

The group had the fire controlled by 8 a.m., Simms said, but it took a while to completely extinguish.
