Emeralds shut out Indians

SPOKANE — Wladimir Galindo singled to score Zach Short in the top of the fifth inning for the lone run of the night as the Eugene Emeralds beat the Spokane Indians 1-0 in Northwest League baseball in front of 5,836 at Avista Stadium on Friday.
Manuel Rondon struck out six over five innings to improve to 6-0 on the season for Eugene (9-5), which struck out 12 Spokane hitters. Mark Malave struck out the side in the ninth for his seventh save of the season.
Three Spokane (8-7) players had one hit each.
The teams meet again tonight at 6:30.
