<p>Courtesy photo</p><p>The North Idaho Elite high school team finished second in the elite division of the 90 team Midsummer Night’s Madness Western Championship held in San Diego, Calif. In the back row, from left, are: coach Carey Carlson, Tiana Johnson, Melody Kempton, Nina Carlson, Keara Simpson, and coach Chris Carlson. In the front row is Rachel Schroeder, Keelie Lawler, Bayley Brennan, and Allison Kirby. In the tree is ball boy Jordan Carlson. This tournament marks the last one for Nina Carlson (Lake City HS), Allison Kirby Timberlake HS), and Keelie Lawler (Timberlake HS) who have played with North Idaho Elite for seven years straight.</p>

• AAU BASKETBALL

The North Idaho Elite high school team finished second in the elite division of the 90 team Midsummer Night’s Madness Western Championship held in San Diego, Calf. The team beat Triple Threat Black 46-25, TNT Phoenix 53-30, Northwest Express Extreme 49-25, Alaska Lady Hoops 62-35, and Cal Sparks Extreme 53-42 before losing the championship to the Spokane Stars Blue 58-55.

This tournament marks the last one for Nina Carlson (Lake City HS), Allison Kirby Timberlake HS), and Keelie Lawler (Timberlake HS) who have played with North Idaho Elite for seven years straight.

• ASA SOFTBALL

The North Idaho Xtreme softball team will host tryouts for next season on Saturday at Finuncane Park in Hayden.

The U-12 and U-14 tryouts will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and U-16 and U-18 will be from 1 to 3 p.m.

• SELECT SOCCER

The Sting Timbers FC 03Girls Red took 1st in their division of the 1st Annual Spokane Cup last weekend. Goals for the tournament were scored by Amber Aittama, Darby Lindholdt-Anderson, Lilly Nickel, and Bailey Mongan. Shootout goals in Championship game against Valor scored by Amber Aittama, Holly Hudson, Breanna Widener and Sophia Allan.

Sting Timbers FC (Football Club) had a great weekend at the 1st Annual Spokane Cup, Youth Soccer Tournament hosted by the Washington East Soccer Club at the Spokane Polo Fields.

Sting Timbers FC 05 Boys White, coached by Kevin Jump placed 2nd in their division. The boys played Spokane Pumas SC on Saturday morning losing 8-2, but came back in a rematch for the final game of the weekend. The game was tied at the end of regulation 1-1, headed into Gold Goal overtime which also ended in a tie. After a grueling Penalty Kick Shootout, Spokane Pumas pulled ahead to win by one point.
