ROAD: Cyclists, drivers need to use caution
Thanks to Judd Jones for his “Trails and roads: Part II.”
For the 25 years I have lived on lower Hayden Lake Road, my springtime prayer has been, “Please God, watch over the bikers and drivers. May the bikers show courtesy and ride single file at the edge of the road.”
Hayden Lake Road is indeed a beautiful ride but it is a very narrow, no shoulder, winding, hilly road. When even one biker is on the road it makes it nearly impossible to pass. When two or three are riding next to each other and giggle at the line of cars behind them, it’s hard to feel generous. More fearful is coming to a blind curve wondering if there is a string of bikers across the road on the other side of the curve.
There are so many beautiful designated bike trails. Please don’t put yourselves and others in jeopardy.
