| August 8, 2016 3:15 PM

Bertha (Roth) Wright was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Billings, Mont., to Fred and Katherine Roth. She passed away peacefully on Aug. 2, 2016.

Bert was one of 12 children born to Fred and Katie Roth. She was raised on a farm in Sanders, Mont., and grew up knowing the value of a strong work ethic which she carried with her throughout her life. She graduated from Hysham High School in 1945. After high school, she attended MSU in Bozeman before coming back to Hysham. She worked at the REA prior to beginning her 44-year banking career at the First National Bank in Hysham. She retired as a vice president from the bank in 1995.

Bert was very social. She made and maintained many friendships throughout her life. She was loved by so many. She enjoyed playing bridge in several bridge clubs and continued to play regularly until her passing. She knitted and quilted for many years and gifted many of her hand-stitched quilts, afghans, sweaters and slippers to many friends and family. Bert had a strong faith throughout her life and was actively involved in the church and enjoyed attending Bible studies and helping with church activities.

She was a beautiful gardener and maintained a beautiful yard during her years in Hysham. Other activities she enjoyed were watching her kids’ and grand kids’ ball games and school activities, boating and catching fish! One of her favorite things to do was to have family and friends come to visit or come over for a meal. The family counted on her for some great gatherings, from Thanksgiving dinner to the Fourth of July picnic in the yard. She was a great cook and always made sure no one left her house hungry!

Bert was married to Cecil Wright from 1946 to 2000. They had three children together. Bert is survived by her three children, Calvin (Karen) Wright of Welches Ore., Stu (Kim) Wright of Coeur d’Alene and Celeste Wright of Seattle, Wash.; as well as her grandchildren, Ben Wright, Sarah (Wright) Coates, Adam Wright, Brittany Wright, Calvin Wright and Ali Sandoval. In addition, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Emily Wright and Logan Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two remaining siblings, Katherine Olson and Bill Roth.

Bert’s sense of humor, beautiful smile, and immense love and dedication to her family and friends will be missed by so many. Though our hearts are broken at this time, we know she is at peace now with her heavenly father.

Bert’s life will be remembered and celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Community Presbyterian Church in Post Falls, Idaho. A reception to follow at the church.

Memorials can be made to a children’s volunteer organization or charity of your choice.
