TAXES: Pity the taxpayer

| August 7, 2016 9:00 PM

Max tax increases on the way, The Press headline said. The reason is to be sure government employees make more money and have better benefits than the people paying the bill. Makes perfect sense to me.

Let’s start comparing government pay and benefits with Kootenai County working people who are not getting cost of living increases, good retirement benefits, good vacation — paid sick leave, etc.

Let’s get government back to what they were elected to do — represent the Taxpayer.

Strange things happen to good, honest, hardworking people when they start spending other people’s money.

Let’s get real, guys. We all live, work and pay taxes in Kootenai County. Employees, county or private business employees, let’s compare apples to apples.

Climb off your political perch, sit down and represent the people who put you in office — Taxpayers.
